Standing Stones History

Standing Stones Camp's journey began in 1995 and was developed by a group of enthusiastic young leaders who wanted to provide a safe environment where young people could have the opportunity to grow in their faith and fellowship with one another. Standing Stones Camp is the first annual Hmong Baptist Christian conference designed and tailored to meet the spiritual needs of youth and young adults of today. The camp is held for one week during the summer months and is open to anyone and everyone. We are part of the Hmong Baptist National Association (HBNA) and Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). The name Standing Stones was inspired from the book of Joshua. Standing Stones is a "memorial" to remind the youth and young adults of their commitment to Jesus from having experienced God first hand.

"So Joshua called together the twelve men he had appointed from the Israelites, one from each tribe, and said to them, 'Go over before the ark of the LORD your God into the middle of the Jordan. Each of you is to take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, to serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask you, 'What do these stones mean?' tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever.'" Joshua 4:4-7

What Can I Expect at Camp?

Standing Stones Camp is more than just a gathering of young people, it's a Christ-centered environment that develops, inspires, and challenges the faith of the campers who attend. We're all about learning, growing, connecting, equipping our young campers to fulfill and serve God's kingdom—all while having fun! Here's what you can expect at camp:

Worship
Come praise and worship with us at camp—from morning to evening service! It's more than just music! The Standing Stones worship team is called to lead people to worship God; showing reverence and gratitude to Him through songs of praise. No need to be an expert singer, we'll learn songs together!

Small Groups
All campers will be placed in a small group during their time at camp (lead by two group leaders)! This is a great opportunity for campers to connect and fellowship with friends (old and new!). They'll spend time meditating on scripture together, competing as a team during activities, and just good ol' getting to know their brothers and sisters in Christ.

Sermons and Services
We'll have special guest speakers and a keynote speaker who'll dive into scripture and guide us through the camp's theme messaging. They'll challenge our faith and help us discover the truth and examine our relationship with Christ. Sermons will be lead by church leaders and pastors.

Workshops and Tracks
Think of workshops as mini "Bible classes," where campers explore topics of their interest and expand their knowledge! These sessions will be lead by leaders in the church who are excited to share the Gospel and word of Christ! Whether it's topics like, overcoming circumstances, "soul care," to a Biblical perspective to current issues, you're sure to find (and learn!), more about the importance of scripture and what it means to follow Jesus.

Activities
From games on stage to outdoor splash activities, you can expect campers to be in on the fun! Whether it's during free time or activity time, you'll have the opportunity to explore gym sports, play out on the field, or spend time relaxing and fellowshippin' indoors (board games, anyone?).
